The Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre expansion is located within Brisbane's popular Southbank precinct. The structural steel detailing has been Alpetros Design's lead drafting project in 2010, Strucad's multi-user model manager environment was used for this project. At project completion it consisted of 1052 tonnes of hot-rolled & 123 tonnes of cold-rolled material.

Mackay Convention Centre takes shape. Alpetros Design Services’ contract required it to detail 300 tonnes of structural steelwork and 2845 m2 (175 panels) of precast concrete panels. The complex foyer area roof sheeting and ceiling were detailed by Alpetros draftsmen to enable pre-ordering of materials and accurate levels of ceiling lines to be achieved. The centre required a large span roof truss system with durra beam purlins all detailed to enable transportation and planned site erection sequences to be coordinated.

The exposed structural steel sections and trusses required a finished paint system before erection. The angular wall configuration of pre-cast concrete panels, the roof graphics and the shape of internal/external ceilings made the project a challenging one for the steel detail draftsmen.

The 8 Million dollar complex adds to Alpetros Designs list of CQU projects completed since the original University Campus building in 1992. The contract included the detailing of all wall steel panels to ground and first floors.

The Building used external curved featured walls of structural steel sections. Ongoing design of steel elements during detailing was a challenge to Alpetros’ proposed delivery schedule.

This 85 tonne project is located on Mackay's northside opposite the Mackay Mater Hospital. Alpetros's contract included the 52 precast panels. The building required increased precision as the design allowed for little tolerance between the structural steel and the precast panels. In particular the 17m long cantilevered roof was completely supported between precast panels and an isolated vertical steel truss. Any variance in positions would have resulted in inerectability.

The 75 million dollar expansion of the Rockhampton Base Hospital included new buildings for oral health, staff accommodation, rehabilitation building, overhead pedestrian bridge between rehabilitation and existing medical services and extension to emergency services.

The extension to the existing hospital compromises community, allied and mental health. The structure is a multi-level roof of structural steel forming hips, valleys and bulkheads. The roof steel was supported independently by structural steel columns to a ground level concrete slab. Alpetros Designs was also contracted to undertake the metal work package by Pierce Engineering.

Mackay Mater Hospital (1995) |

This 100 tonne curved steel roof structure sits on a first floor concrete slab. Feature support steel work to the ground floor entrances, foyers, decks and walkways surround the building. This new building for the Mater Hospital in Mackay adds to the list of the locally completed project by the Alpetros team which also shop detailed the 150 tonne upgrade structures to the Mackay Base Hospital.

Artspace Mackay is a unique structure challenging the detail draftsmen with structural steel angles, connections and aesthetic detail specifications. The steel structure was detailed using the 3D software TSD4. The building impressively fronts Gordon Street, Mackay’s main entry to the city.

This large span curved trussed roof provides a large open area for exhibition of livestock in Rockhampton. Undertaken in Strucad the project was delivered by Alpetros in a short time frame for its client.
